(4:11-12) THE MYSTERY. The Greek word is musterion, and it is from this word that we get our word “mystery.” As it is used in Scripture, it has reference to the secret counsels of God which are hidden from the ungodly, but which are accepted by truth-seekers as they are revealed to them. A mystery has nothing to do with difficulty of interpretation. However, these mysteries are impossible to interpret until their meaning is revealed — at which time they become obvious.
